It is believed that modern day Birman cats have existed in the south-east Asian country of Burma for many centuries, living as a sacred cat within the nation. The four main colours of the Birman are chocolate, seal, blue and lilac all of which have white feet and a bushy tail. They have almond eyes with thick whiskers on a broad head. A very faithful breed of cat, the Birman is well suited to indoor life, though does also enjoy the outdoors. Grooming the angora coat is a fairly undemanding task as the coat is long and silky with no undercoat.
