Modern day Himalayan cats have the long coat of the Persian whilst also having the colourpoints of the Siamese. The Himalayan was developed in the early 1900's through crossing the Persian, Siamese and Birman cats. They have a short nose with large blue eyes. Common Himalayan coat colouring is blue, seal, chocolate, lilac and blue-cream. Himalayans are playful, gentle and very affectionate cats. Regular grooming of the Himalayan is a must to rid the excess hair this breed tends to shed. As they are a placid breed, the Himalayan is well suited to lazing around in-doors.
