Native to Norway where the Norwegian Forest Cat is known as Norsk Skogkatt. This cat breed is ancient and occurred as a natural adaption to the cold climate of Northern Europe. The Norwegian Forest Cat sheds its coat every summer. Grooming should be an occassional combing of the coat. As the Norwegian Forest Cat was originally a forest dweller they have strong claws, making them excellent tree climbers. This cat should not be kept indoors for long periods of time.
