First bred in California, USA during the 1960's the Ragdoll cats are a relatively new breed. The name Ragdoll comes about as they completely relax when handled, resulting in a floppy, ragdoll appearance. It is said that the Ragdoll has a high pain tolerance which can result in injuries going unnoticed. Their hair is thick and long on a large, heavy frame getting up to 10kg in size. Their eyes are lagre, round and blue in colour. Ragdoll coat colours can vary though may turn to a champagne colour during maturity. The Ragdoll cats temperament is placid and relaxed, enjoying indoor life. Regular combing will keep this cats coat in good order.
