The Turkish Van has been derived from native cats in the wintery Lake Van region in Turkey. Turkish Van cats love water, happily swimming and splashing about. This felines coat is very similar to the Persian cats, being thick and soft in the winter months and shedding its coat in the warmer summer months. Turkish Van coat colours are isolated to the head and tail with the rest of the coat being white in colour. Body shape is long and muscular with a wedged shaped head and large round eyes. The Turkish Van cat is an affectionate and intelligent breed that requires regular brushing to keep the coat in good condition.
