This massively built dog breed, the Alaskan Malamute was bred to pull heavy sleds over long distances, in snow and freezing conditions. The Alaskan Malamute was named after an Alaskan Innuit tribe, Mahlemuts. Alaskan Malamutes are handsome and powerful, with a thick coat that can feature colours grey, white, black, liver or red. As a family pet, the Alaskan Malamute can be quit overbearing and as such needs training from early on. Feeding quantities need to be controlled as the Alaskan Malamute can be a greedy eater if given the chance. This dog breed requires alot of exercise with a regular brushing.
