Often mentioned as Americas national dog, the Boston Terrier was bred by crossing the Bulldog (British Bulldog) with the now extinct, English White Terrier. With their compact, well built muscular body the Boston Terrier is similar in appearance to the French Bulldog. Alert and intelligent, colouring is white with usually either black or brindle. Bred as a fighting dog breed, The Boston Terrier was originally bigger, though in modern times they have been down bred for companionship.
