The Dobermann was originally bred in Germany to be used as a police dog by Herr Louis Dobermann. The Dobermann is also known as the Doberman Pinscher. Their coat is short and usually found to be black and tan in colour. The Dobermann dog breed has an abundance of energy and as such is not suited to a lethargic owner as regular and frequent exercise is a requirement. Dobermanns are loyal and alert, making great guard dogs though do not forget what they were originally bred for. Grooming of the Dobermann breed is brief and easy due to the nature of the short coat.
