Originally bred in Scotland as a sheep dog, the Rough Collie dog breed was brought to fame through the dog film "Lassie". The Rough Collie is the long coated version of the Smooth Collie. The Rough Collie's coat is long with the most popular colour being white and gold / tan. Due to the length and thickness of the coat, grooming can take some time and be quite demanding. Moderate exercise is required to keep the Rough Collie in peak condition. Due to a friendly temperament Rough Collies generally make a good companion and family pet.
