The Samoyed dog originates from the Samoyedic people of Siberia, Russia. They were developed to herd reindeer and pull sleds in the sub zero Siberian temperatures. The Samoyeds double coat is thick and mostly white in colour. Samoyeds tend to groom themselves well groomed though a regular brushing to remove excess hair, and to stop matting, is needed. Samoyeds are energetic and need daily exercise to stop them gaining weight and barking from boredom. Their friendly temperament makes them a great companion dog.
