Well known for its distinctive wrinkly skin, the Shar Pei or Chinese Shar Pei's loose skin is plentiful in puppies, usually being restricted to the neck, head and withers of adult Shar Pei's. Skin problems can occur in this dog breed due to their excess skin. Under all their excess skin is a solid, well muscled dog, with a large rectangular head. Coat colouring is usually black or tan. The Shar Pei's temperament is welcoming though self-governing.
