Developed in Scotland the Smooth Collie is the short coated version of the Rough Collie, though it is not as common and is also used as a sheep dog. Coat colours in the Smooth Collie can also be white and gold/tan though are more commonly found to be blue and white in colour. Grooming of the Smooth Collie is not as demanding as the Rough Collie due to their short, smooth coat. The exercise requirements are not demanding though should be frequent to keep the dog in top condition. The Smooth Collie tends to make a goodfamily pet due to its friendly temperament.
