The St Bernard Dog is a huge breed of working dog, originally bred in the Swiss Alps as a rescue dog. They have a distinct look that makes them instantly recognisable. The St Bernard's coat is thick though relatively easy to groom. They are commonly white and red / brindle in colour. Due to a broad bottom lip, St Bernard's are known for drooling. Visually the St Bernard is similar to the English Mastiff. Both of these dogs have a shared ancestory with the Alpine Mastiff. It is wise to socialise St Bernard's with other animals and humans from a young age. They are a very loyal, kind and charming breed of dog.
