This massive dog breed, the Leonberger, originates from the German town of Leonberg. Due to this dogs shear size a great deal of food is needed in order to sustain its appetite. Over the years they have been used as a guard dog, protector of livestock and a draught dog. Sadly, today Leonberger's are a rare dog breed. Colouring is usually a light yellow, golden to reddish-brown commonly with a black muzzle. Friendly of nature and intelligent, the Leonberger is a fine-looking dog.
